This weekend I was able to work in Saint John filming with the NB Film Co-Op. Jon, John, Britany, Cori, Dylan, and I headed to Cape Spencer to film Cori’s first film, Distortion. Distortion is a great family affair. The soundtrack is written by Scott, the direction by Cori, and the acting is done by their son David. This was one of two weekends required to complete this short.
We had a great set of shots take place at Cape Spencer at sundown. For those of you who have never been, its just past Mispec beach at the lighthouse. Dylan brought his drone and Jon brought his Ronan to the locations. We were able to film the sheer drop and the expanse of the water in front of us. I feel like those will look stunning on screen.
I unwisely forgot mitts and gloves. So, in every photo I look like I'm freezing to death, but generally, it was a great time.
It was great to be able to go down to Saint John for the weekend and switch gears between theatre and film. I am always thankful to the NB Film Co-Op for allowing creatives to get behind cameras. It's a great thing to have in Fredericton. As always, if you are curious about film making, it's a great place to start.
