As snow-magedon hits the east coast this weekend, I have been sat indoors working on a new art installation piece for Flourish Festival in Fredericton.
Back in August, I proposed the creation of a cherry blossom tree in the atrium of the Charlotte Street Arts Center. Months went by and I hadn’t heard anything about the project so I assumed I hadn’t been picked. Early January I got an email from the festival to let me know my project had been accepted for display at the festival in April. Now, I have hundreds of little cherry blossoms cut out of pink paper.
So the snow has been falling and I have been folding this bucket of pink papers and watching Netflix. I have three months to create a whole tree of blossoms. It's tedious, time-consuming and I am excited to have work for public display.
